The Las Vegas Raiders badly wanted a win over the Baltimore Ravens. That was clear based on how they played and how they acted after the game. Despite looking dead in the water heading into the fourth quarter with a 13-23 deficit, the Raiders offense came alive and led the team to victory. Head coach Antonio Pierce was under fire following some questionable coaching decisions in Week 1 and he was fired up to turn things around in Week 2.
So fired up that he almost broke general manager Tom Telesco in half.
I’m not sure why he’s hitting a 51-year-old man with body shots and Telesco doesn’t look like he was ready for that big of an embrace, but he seems happy. That said, he’s probably sore as hell today. Having a former linebacker hit me like that may have sent me to the ER and I’m much younger than Telesco.
In any case, this is a significant moment because head coaches and general managers rarely get along. Pierce seems to be fully committed to Telesco, and the two have a strong rapport right now. It’s critical that both of them stay on the same page. Telesco is reserved, but Pierce is still passionate, and the coach doesn’t care; he will treat everyone equally. If the Raiders made the right choice in selecting Telesco and Pierce, things will get better in Las Vegas, even though there is still a lot of work ahead.
Even though there may not be any more victories, the atmosphere inside the Raiders building is far nicer than it was under Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler.
The Raiders need to address this obvious problem before playing Carolina in Week 3. Maxx Crosby and Davante Adams are the team’s standout players from Week 2.

Antonio Pierce calls out everyone who picked the Raiders to lose in Week 2
Seems like Sunday was Bizzaro Week in the NFL. The Lions looked vulnerable at home, the Saints outclassed the Cowboys in Dallas, and the three West Coast teams who traveled east for the early kickoffs all prevailed. Though the NFL outcomes were strangely flipped this week, none of the games were more unexpected than the Raiders’ 26-23 victory over the Ravens in Baltimore.
Regardless of what transpires moving forward, the victory alone made it the Raiders’ finest game of the season. (Perhaps nothing, but you get the idea.) They were headed across the nation for an early kickoff against one of the three top teams in the NFL after they let a winnable game against the Chargers slip away.
As an alternative, the Raiders will enter their home opener fresh off of Antonio Pierce’s first memorable victory as the team’s official head coach. He didn’t waste any time in telling folks that the Raiders are, of course, keeping receipts after the game.
Pierce remarked, “A win where we were 10 point underdogs.” “In the National Football League, poorly regarded. I’ve played the game for a long time, and I don’t think teams are selected to lose by ten points very often. It was excellent that our men took it personally.”
Well, you can’t really hold this against him. Before this week, there was not a shred of Raiders confidence, and I doubt that I read a single prediction this week other than, “Lmao yeah the Ravens will be fine.” You may tell folks after the game that you pulled off what might be the biggest upset of the NFL season. Fair play from all parties.
The good news is that, following a week in which everyone anticipated that the Raiders would lose badly, the momentum is about to shift dramatically in the opposite direction when the Carolina Panthers visit town.
