Q: You mentioned that Maxx Crosby is still developing both as a player and a leader. Are you referring to what he did with Gardner Minshew following that interception? improving the lives of others around him while he was kind of sticking his chest out and boasting about how great he was

Coach Pierce: “Well, I believe that was a pivotal moment for our team as well as for Maxx [Crosby].” We were in a pretty bad situation—sudden change, turnover. Most of the time, you see men rushing about and arguing. Maxx and I had a lengthy conversation about how his leadership position will be what really distinguishes him as an outstanding player and all-time Raider. And I believe it was a really big move on his part, as well as the way our team played defense and, of course, in the fourth quarter.”

Q: Well, that was a huge victory. Up next, you play a team that is having quarterbacking issues. How can a letdown be prevented? Is the leadership the same?

“Well, the Raiders have a lot of things that we need to fix,” said Coach Pierce. Even though we prevailed yesterday, there were a lot of unpleasant things in both the first quarter and the first half. And to be honest, that was awful in the third quarter. That being said, we don’t give a damn about the Panthers. We must make the Raiders better.”

Q: It seems as like you were certain that you should go for it when you went for it on the first down of the fourth down, even though you plainly didn’t get it. Which message does that, in your opinion, send to your offense?

Coach Pierce: “Well, we spent the entire week discussing it. As I previously mentioned, there are usually times when we discuss it as a staff before I directly inform the team of my plans and how I’m thinking about it. And I said to them that I was searching for 17 when we got there. And we carried it out. There was no doubt, even if we came up short. The offensive was aware, prepared, and we carried it out. We simply ran out of time.”

How can one initiate a run game? How is that gadget jump started?

“Man, it’s got start up front,” said Coach Pierce. It must begin from the beginning. To be blunt and use a coaching cliche, it all begins with me. Our coordinator and offensive line coach are the first to step in. That is inadequate, extremely inadequate, and not good enough. And in a moment, our players will be informed about it here. That is just not possible for us to accomplish. I am referring to less than two yards per carry, being tackled, and failing to gain a first down on third down. I mean, there needs to be a purpose and a style of play that we have discussed, that we employ, that we have been advocating from the beginning, and it’s

What difficulties is Andy Dalton facing?

Coach Pierce: “I have no idea what took place there. I mean, that’s news to me as a veteran quarterback. I had just attended meetings, but I had to return to the drawing board. It was one for which I was unprepared.”

Even though it’s only the first two games, I bet you and the coaching staff are thrilled with the addition of Brock Bowers to the offense and the prospect of watching him develop over the course of an 18-game season. What did you see yesterday? It was a significant game for him, especially thus early in his rookie season, and I know you addressed him in the post-game.

Coach Pierce: “It seems like he’s simply getting bigger. He truly did come up for us at some very important times, I think. I really like his play style, aggressiveness, and physicality when he runs. In the third quarter, he caught the ball and dragged the defender for a few more yards to get us to the one-yard line. You know, that really got him going and invigorated our entire crew. It seems incredibly big to me. Big Mike [Michael Mayer], one of our tight ends, and I discussed how difficult such matchups are when we have 12 players on the field. And I believe that if we have Big Mike (Michael Mayer) going in addition to Brock Bowers, we’ll be

When you guys are playing complementary football, how fantastic can this squad be?

Coach Pierce: “The fourth quarter should be the model for the other three quarters.” We discussed and lectured about it, but I’m happy that it did come up during a crucial juncture in the match. I genuinely want to commend our special teams. Daniel Carlson’s four-for-four performance made a difference, correct? We have two chances within the 25 to pin those players back thanks to his kickoffs.

That was really important to us. Once more, our punt unit has performed admirably. And when it came down to it, our offense’s 15 [Gardner Minshew II], 17 [Davante Adams], and 89 [Brock Bowers] players started to make plays. Additionally, I adore Zamir White’s game-ending play. I am aware that neither the yards nor the carries exist. Just keep an eye on Zamir’s blocking in Pass Pro. Many of our athletes exhibit both our play style and toughness. And once more, up to the game’s final play, defensively, Maxx [Crosby], Christian [Wilkins], and Spill [Robert Spillane] gave us all they had. Plus, it was entertaining to see. We conversed.

For us, that was really crucial. Our punt team has done a great job once again. And when it counted, guys like our 15 [Gardner Minshew II], 17 [Davante Adams], and 89 [Brock Bowers] offensive line members began to produce. I also love Zamir White’s move that won the game. I understand that there are no yards or carries. Just keep an eye out for Zamir’s Pass Pro blocking. A large number of our athletes display both our toughness and play style. And again, Maxx [Crosby], Christian [Wilkins], and Spill [Robert Spillane] gave us all they had defensively until the very last play of the game. It was also entertaining to watch. We had a conversation.

Pierce, the coach: “No, we did. Between that and carrying him about in your pocket, come on, listen. You had to hold your breath a few times because this guy was so active. That’s difficult to do for an hour, though, isn’t it? Praise for our boys, our coaching staff, who preach it every single week, just cannot be expressed. And our guys are truly embracing it. Since it’s simple to sprint across the field and declare, “Oh, I got a sack.” I mean, Maxx [Crosby] experienced that once in the game, right? He once burned the corner, bang, yet he managed to

him lying down. Not the remainder of time. The guys performed an excellent job of maintaining evenness up the field shoulder and then retreating. More significantly, we raised our hands when he attempted to make those throws beneath. The quarterback becomes more frustrated by a few tipped and swatted balls than by being forced to the ground.

Regarding Jackson Powers-Johnson and Divine Deablo, do you have any updates?

Coach Pierce: “I have not yet acquired that.” We’re currently working out our agreement with the medical personnel.”

How is Zamir White’s head kept in it? While there have undoubtedly been setbacks in the run game, how can his confidence be maintained?

Coach Pierce: “I’ll continue to bolster him up.” Our objective is to touch him more than twenty times. This week’s objective was not met. As long as he’s the starting running back and I’m here, that will be our weekly objective. [White] is not Zamir. We had to get going right away. Up front, the big lads got to block. In summary. They are aware of it. In a few minutes, we will discuss it here.”

Do you think Kolton Miller is beginning to regain his physical form after skipping training?

Coach Pierce: “It’s difficult, I think.” It makes no difference to me how long you’ve played in the league. You’re in trouble if you skip the entire offseason, minicamp, and training camp, then return for Week 1. To be honest, you need to remove some rust. I believe he’s doing that, seeing that. He is one of our team leaders, a pro, and he understands. When Kolton Miller and our offensive line play well, we perform well as a team.

Q: Using Andrus Peat as the left guard, let’s talk about that offensive line. Could you just briefly discuss that shift and what you believed he did?

Coach Pierce: “Yes, just like I mentioned. However, in the second half, we switched back to Cody [Whitehair]. We shall thus take on the opponents who offer us the highest possibility of winning. We believed early in the game that Peat’s size and strength against two excellent interior defensive lineman would be advantageous. However, as the game progressed, we turned back to Cody Whitehair, and our offense produced some excellent performance in the second half.

Q: Jack Jones got a huge one on Isaiah, and Jakorian Bennett had a great one breaking the pass down the sideline. probably in the latter moments of the match. What have you observed from the defense’s back end and their role supporting the rush to help restrict Lamar Jackson?

Coach Pierce: “I believe that the confidence is increasing, yes.” It’s preferable if you can make plays with the ball in the air as much as possible. I adore JB’s [Jakorian Bennett] current state of affairs. Last year, he was a bit of a grabby player who earned several unfair penalties. These days, he just relies on his skill. He can obviously run at a pace of 4.2–4.3 there with everyone. But simply being able to move the ball down the field. Every time he performs, we get greater confidence from him. Furthermore, it’s clear that Jack Jones has no problems with confidence. It just involves adhering to the plan and using the proper approach.
