After a string of disappointing performances to begin the season, Kevin Thelwell is pleased that Everton has come out in support of Sean Dyche.

Despite less than ideal beginning performances this season, the Englishman is secure in his role at Goodison Park since the management feels he has enough credit in the bank [Sky Sports].

Director of football Thelwell, who spoke to BBC Radio Merseyside on September 20, expressed support for the manager and expressed satisfaction that the club had made it apparent.

“He’s obviously working under very difficult circumstances, so I’m glad the club did make that statement and I’m glad we’ve tried to make it clear,” he stated.

“It is rather challenging for a manager to attempt and take that next step because we still have ownership issues and financial concerns to address.

“Sean and I collaborate extremely closely; our offices are literally a meter apart and across the road from one another. As a result, we communicate frequently throughout the day—in the morning, afternoon, and evening—about what we can do and how best to use the resources at our disposal to try and improve things moving forward.”

The manager has taken the brunt of the criticism from fans during the Toffees’ less than perfect start to the current campaign.

It’s not good to start the Premier League with four consecutive losses, but the quality of those losses has also been an issue.

Concerningly, Everton gave up 2-0 leads against Bournemouth and Aston Villa, crumbled against Brighton, and performed appallingly against Tottenham.

Some supporters have expressed their dissatisfaction and called for a management change as a result, although it doesn’t seem like the club is thinking about it.

After leading Burnley to an incredible finish to the previous season at Goodison, the former manager has a history of preventing clubs from relegation.

The disappointment stems from the sincere expectation that this year would see a move into the midtable, but if anything, things have gone the opposite way.

With the matchup with Leicester City coming up, Dyche has to pull himself out of his current rut.
