Rodri said that Arsenal ‘parked the bus’ against Manchester City last season. However, Bukayo Saka has responded.
In response to Rodri of Manchester City, Bukayo Saka has stated that Arsenal should always aim for win before their next match.
The winger for the Gunners quickly denied suggestions from the previous campaign that Arsenal was happy to settle for a draw with City at the Etihad, saying, “Only we know the truth.”
In their crucial meeting in March of last year, Arsenal lost to City by just two points, and Rodri of City had previously implied that the Gunners didn’t compete for the victory.
When they arrived and faced us at the Etihad, the Spanish midfield player remarked, “I saw them and thought, ‘Ah, these guys, they don’t want to beat us, they just want a draw.'” And with that mindset, I doubt we would approach things in the same manner.
“And we managed to apprehend them. Even though it’s really difficult, we will win the final seven or eight games if you give us one point. Consequently, I believe that mindset is key.”
Saka, though, is convinced that Arsenal’s goal is always to win, and they will approach Sunday’s match with the same resolve.
“This Sunday we will be going there to win as well,” he said, highlighting their winning mindset. That is our main goal.”
The England international Saka is unmoved by Rodri’s remarks and rejects the idea that Arsenal and his team compromised for a draw in their previous meeting.
Saka explained, saying, “I honestly don’t give a damn about what Rodri said. We are aware of our beliefs and the purpose for which we traveled.
“The actual truth is only known by ourselves. We went there with the intention of winning, and on Sunday we will accomplish just that.”
