According to sources, Eddie Howe now wants Newcastle United to recruit a star striker who will be a free agency in 2025, since replacing Callum Wilson is on the team’s plan for next transfer windows.

As reported by The Athletic, sporting director Paul Mitchell acknowledged the disappointment surrounding Newcastle’s transfer window. He said to Luke Edwards of the Telegraph, “Eddie was very clear and it’s not up to me after seven weeks to say, ‘We’ll do this and that, because I’m in a supporting role. Were there any choices? Of course there were, as that’s what Newcastle and the department are in charge of.

Reports indicate that Howe may still have influence on incoming transfers, even though it appears that he is taking more of the criticism for the Magpies’ unsuccessful window. If Dominic Calvert-Lewin is unable to reach an agreement on a new contract with Everton before the summer of next year, Howe now wants Newcastle to sign him on a free transfer, according to GiveMeSport.
It is unclear if the England international will really choose to sign a new contract, but it is said that he has been given one more opportunity to sign with Everton as they frantically try to keep their star striker from leaving on a free transfer.
“Excellent” Calvert-Lewin would provide Isak cover
Of course, with Wilson’s current contract expiring in the summer, Newcastle will also lose a striker on a free transfer. After his forward’s performance in a surprising Merseyside derby victory against Liverpool last season, Sean Dyche told BBC Sport that he would be disappointed if Calvert-Lewin did decide to leave the team the following summer: “I felt he was quite good. He gave an amazing physical performance.
“This season has not been too bad on the injury front,” he stated. “But it shows it does take time mentally and physically to clear your mind of that and start to play freely again.”
