In Everton’s draw with Newcastle, Jordan Pickford disclosed how he anticipated Anthony Gordon’s penalty kick location.

At the half-hour mark, James Tarkowski brought down Sando Tonali inside the area, earning the Magpies a spot kick for the second straight week.

In place of Alexander Isak, Gordon took his place, but Pickford, a former Toffees teammate, dove to his left to stop his attempt.

Once the penalty was granted, the England international goalie claims to have known where Gordon would put the ball.

“I fancied him going keepers left because I watched the game last week and he reversed it against Ederson and the one before he went the same way. I told Ross today that I’m going to go keeper’s left, which I did,” Pickford said to Sky Sports.

“It knocked me off my knee.” I believe Ant didn’t do it perfectly, and he will be upset, but my job was to rescue the day, and that’s what I did.

‘Not much, take try to double bluff each other and I’ve got the best of him tonight,’ he replied when asked if it helps to play against a former teammate.

“I’m happy that we were able to maintain a draw and advance in this crucial moment of the game.”

Soon after the game, Pickford and Gordon were spotted together, and the former disclosed what they discussed.

Pickford remarked, “He asked me why I went that way, and I just said you went right the last two times so I fancied you going left, which I did.”

“I support myself with pens, and I believe this is my first for Everton in a long time.” We build upon it since it’s aesthetically beautiful and a blank slate.

With two points more than 18th-place Crystal Palace, Sean Dyche’s team has avoided relegation thanks to the draw at Goodison Park.
