All I want to do is congratulate Steve Bruce.
No, really.
Now, Steve Bruce has left his mark on history.
The former manager of Sunderland and Newcastle United has been recognised as the Manager of the Month for League One (see below).
become the first manager of Blackpool to win his first four league games in history.
On behalf of all Newcastle United supporters who, like me, felt he was worthless, I now sincerely apologise.
Still, some Blackpool supporters said Steve Bruce was merely spiteful and undeserved, having proved all NUFC supporters wrong.
It’s just a matter of time until Steve Bruce takes his proper place at Manchester United, the team he loves and his genuine passion, given that Erik ten Hag is expected to be fired.
Naturally, he will be unhappy to leave the Blackpool supporters after just two minutes on the job, but as supporters of Sheffield Wednesday and many other teams are aware, Steve Bruce is everything.
It is hoped that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Dan Ashworth would accept his record-breaking honour and making Blackpool history without questioning it. Where they will discover that, ironically, Steve Bruce was defeated by Sheffield Wednesday at home in his second game as manager of Blackpool.
After Blackpool’s four league victories in September, they have lost at Mansfield and drew at home against Lincoln.
The only issue left is: Will Manchester United make a move before the illuminations (lights) in Blackpool go out?
Official Blackpool press announcement on Steve Bruce, October 11, 2024:
“September’s Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month is Steve Bruce.”
Bruce, 63, became the first Blackpool manager in the Club’s history to win all four of his first four league games as a Seasider. Among his successes were a thrilling comeback victory over Exeter on his first match, as well as noteworthy road triumphs at Huddersfield and Charlton. A 3-0 triumph against Burton Albion marked the month’s conclusion.
Steve Bruce commented on the award:
Given how well the team has performed since our arrival here last month, this accolade is well-deserved.
“With matches every three or four days since I joined the Club, the first two weeks have been quite busy. We have had to be happy with the start we have made, and the players have done an amazing job of assiduously absorbing our ideas and putting them into practice so rapidly.
“If we want to succeed, we need to keep doing the same things over the next few months, and I’m sure we have a strong enough group to push through this season.”
Kudos to the coach, his entire team, and the players!
