There have been many ups and downs in the circumstances surrounding Davante Adams and his possible trade from the Las Vegas Raiders. Although a number of teams have expressed interest in Adams, there hasn’t been a particularly high demand. League insiders claim that although the Raiders have not gotten a tonne of trade proposals, they have had enquiries about the six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver.
The Raiders’ asking price, which includes a second-round draft selection and additional compensation, along with their refusal to pay Adams’ outstanding contract balance, seem to be the key reasons for other teams’ reluctance.
The Raiders have stated that they will only contemplate a deal if all of their demands are satisfied, thus they are not in a hurry to sell Adams. If they don’t get an offer they think is good enough, they apparently plan to keep the All-Pro receiver.
Las Vegas is adamant about not trading Adams for the purpose of moving him, even in the face of interest from other clubs. Rather than feeling pressure to trade the great receiver right now, the team’s decision-making appears to be guided by its long-term goals.
The New York Jets, Buffalo Bills, Pittsburgh Steelers, and New Orleans Saints are a few of the clubs expressing interest. The Jets and Steelers, who are in town for their next game versus Las Vegas, have been in contact with the Raiders. These conversations show that a number of clubs are interested, but none have yet to forward a strong offer that meets the Raiders’ requirements.
The possibility of Adams being traded also stems from his bond with Raiders quarterback Aidan O’Connell. Adams, who was named the team’s new starting quarterback this week, is reportedly a big fan of O’Connell. Adams is allegedly eager to stick with the Raiders because he thinks O’Connell is one of the greatest quarterbacks he has ever played with. Adams is reportedly drawn to playing alongside O’Connell despite the team’s difficulties.
Adams will not be playing on Sunday for the third straight game due to a hamstring issue. Adams is close to making a comeback, according to Raiders coach Antonio Pierce, who also stressed that he is still an important member of the squad.
Adams has not commented to the media since late September, so it is unknown what he believes about the current trade rumours. But given his relationship with O’Connell and the Raiders’ resistance to making concessions on trade terms, it’s possible that Adams may stay in Las Vegas if trade conditions aren’t favourable.
