Rangers are trying a new approach to recruitment under Nils Koppen, with Philippe Clement handed players from around the world to work with. A changed player trade model, combined with an established presence at TransferRoom conferences, means that new markets are being explored to bring players to Ibrox in the hopes of constructing a title-winning squad.
The manager is fully on board, and the newest name to be connected is Chilean wing sensation Dario Osorio, who is currently at Midtjylland and could be testing Rangers’ budget.
Dario Osorio red flag as Rangers face uphill transfer battle
Despite his obvious talent, the winger has also displayed the sort of red flag that saw Alfredo Morelos fall foul to Scottish officials looking for a scape goat.
Playing against Randers and 2-1 down, Osorio flashed at opposite number Florian Danho and kicked out, yellow became red with the assistance of VAR leaving Midtjylland manager Thomas Thomasberg none too pleased, as reported by dr.dk:
“Dario must learn from it, because there is no reason to risk getting into that situation, both that we play outnumbered, but also that he now has to sit out in two super league games.
“Of course we have to avoid them, and therefore it is an unnecessary red card. Fortunately, we came away with a point, but of course it is something we talk about and articulate. I also did that after the match.
“Dario is of course upset and annoyed that he has to sit and have brought the team into trouble. Fortunately, we once again showed strength and character and got points out of a match which, after 70 minutes, looked like it was going to be lost.”
