In an effort to re-sign try-scoring superstar Bronson Xerri before November 1, the Bulldogs are racing against the clock.
Xerri has a contract with the team till the end of 2025. He made a stunning comeback for Canterbury this season after serving a four-year drug sentence.
However, rival teams have the option to sign him for 2026 and beyond if the Dogs choose not to extend him before November 1st, according to NRL regulations.
In the NRL, classy centres with real speed are hard to come by, so Xerri’s arrival would be sure to spark curiosity.
Wide World of Sports was informed by Dogs general manager of football Phil Gould, “Bronson was great for us this year after so long out of the game and should be even better in 2025.”
“We are working on it and are aware of the circumstances behind his contract.

NRL off-contract list for 2025: Stars Ben Hunt and Selwyn Cobbo are expected to cause mayhem on November 1.
“He and his manager are in Dubai watching a fight and are back late this week and we will talk then.”
The 24-year-old centre made a big splash in the NRL with Cronulla in 2019, amassing 13 tries in 22 games during his outstanding debut year.
However, his demise occurred when he tested positive for steroids, which he had purportedly used to aid in his recuperation from a persistent injury.
After Xerri was sidelined for four years, the Bulldogs decided to give him another chance in the major leagues this season.
But it worked well; Xerri immediately established himself in the Dogs’ starting lineup after beginning the season in the NSW Cup.
He is being sought after by rival NRL clubs after scoring an amazing 10 tries in 19 games while displaying strength, speed, and a smooth running style.
