Following their loss to Kilmarnock, Rangers are moving forward with their preparations to fire Philippe Clement, sources have told Football Insider.

This is true even though the manager’s contract with Ibrox was extended by the board until 2028 during the summer transfer window.

The Rangers administration has not been happy with the season’s results, according to sources close to the club. After Sunday’s Premiership loss to Kilmarnock, the team has lost six of its 14 games in all competitions.

They have lost six points behind Celtic and Aberdeen at the top of the league and have crashed out of the Champions League over two qualification legs against Dynamo Kyiv as a result of this run.

The home crowd is also getting restless, and there’s a growing sense at Ibrox that Clement’s position is no longer safe.

The club is getting closer to making the move despite reports saying the manager’s exit is not inevitable at this time due to mounting pressure on his position

This comes after Football Insider reported in September that if Clement presided over any more losses in games Rangers were supposed to win, he would come under “real pressure” from the board.

Rangers board set to make Philippe Clement sack decision

According to speculation, Clement’s position was also damaged by John Bennett’s resignation owing to health concerns, and the tension was increased by the possibility of new decision-makers.

According to rumours, the 50-year-old may be deemed unfit to command the team by new management following a string of disappointing outcomes.

The manager has been under increasing pressure following a crushing loss in the Old Firm rivalry earlier in the season, and this latest setback has been especially painful.

On October 19, Celtic and Aberdeen drew 2-2, giving Rangers a chance to cut the deficit with a victory at Rugby Park, but they were unable to score and ultimately lost.

Although it has been acknowledged that the boss’s circumstances at Ibrox have not been ideal, the lack of motivation and the calibre of his team’s performances may now compel the club’s upper management to make a choice.
