Jason Cundy is amazed that Everton has gone five weeks without losing in the Premier League.
Jamie O’Hara, speaking on talkSPORT on October 19, at 5:42 p.m., wasn’t that enthused when Cundy said that the Toffees are now four games unbeaten after their 2-0 victory against Ipswich at Portman Road.
After giving up 13 goals in their opening four games of the new season, Sean Dyche’s team has won two and drawn two of their subsequent games.
“They haven’t lost in the league since September 14,” Cundy declared.
O’Hara answered, “Who? How come?
“It’s not the world’s greatest stat, is it?”
“Mate, when was the last time an Everton fan could say ‘we haven’t lost a league game’ for over a month?” Cundy concluded.
Everton is primed to climb the Premier League standings.
After a terrible start, Toffees supporters everywhere will be hopeful that a five-week winning streak is only the beginning of things in their last season at G
oodison Park.
The fact that the Blues’ two victories thus far have come against clubs without a win and lower in the standings may worry Dyche, but the more opponents that fall short of the Blues the longer this run will last.
After consecutive 3-2 losses to Bournemouth and Aston Villa, the 53-year-old looked certain to lose his job, but in the weeks that have passed, Dyche has stabilised the team and then some.
At this early point in the season, a rise from the bottom of the table to the sixteenth spot in a matter of weeks may yet be reversed just as quickly, but supporters will be optimistic that their trend is upward.
