Caleb Williams of the Chicago Bears is not getting caught up in the hype of a potential matchup with Jayden Daniels or playing in his hometown. The first overall draft pick is focused on building on his recent strong performances as the Bears prepare to face the Washington Commanders this Sunday.

“My job is to win games on Thursdays, Sundays, and Mondays. That’s it,” he stated.

The anticipated duel between the top two quarterbacks from this year’s draft is uncertain due to Daniels’ rib injury, which caused him to miss practice on Wednesday, raising doubts about his availability for the game.

Williams, who hails from Maryland and Washington, expressed hope that Daniels will be able to play but believes they will have many chances to compete against each other in the future.

With three consecutive wins and a 4-2 record, the Bears are looking to maintain their momentum coming out of their bye week. Williams has shown signs of being a franchise quarterback, and the team’s offense is improving after a rocky start.

A win against Washington (5-2) would mark the Bears’ first four-game winning streak since their NFC North championship season in 2018. However, the teams they’ve beaten this season have a combined record of just 6-20.

After a rough start, players have called for more intense coaching, and there has been a noticeable change in practice intensity.

In his last three games, Williams has completed 60 of 81 passes for 687 yards, throwing seven touchdowns and only one interception. He has excelled in recent victories, including a standout performance against Jacksonville, where he threw for 226 yards and four touchdowns.

Beyond his performance, Williams has impressed his teammates with his leadership and ability to connect with them, which has been noted by veteran players like Keenan Allen.
