The Falcons are poised to be active buyers as the trade deadline approaches in less than two weeks. Currently last in the league with just six sacks, they are particularly interested in acquiring a pass rusher. Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer confirmed that the Falcons are looking to enhance their defense, especially after acquiring Matthew Judon.

While the Falcons are likely to seek new talent, there’s speculation about whether they could also consider trading players, similar to the Jets. ESPN’s Marc Raimondi noted that safety Richie Grant could be a potential trade candidate. After starting 32 games over the past two seasons, Grant was set to play alongside Jessie Bates III until the recent trade for Simmons. Though the Falcons value depth at safety and may not move him, his potential as a starter elsewhere could attract interest.

In addition to safety, the running back position is another area where the Falcons have depth. While trading Bijan Robinson would be surprising, exploring Tyler Allgeier’s market could be reasonable. Allgeier is capable of starting on many teams, which might help the Falcons recover some draft capital lost earlier due to tampering issues.

Despite expectations for a trade, ESPN’s Dan Graziano suggested the Falcons might not make any moves, having already secured Simmons and Judon before the deadline. Graziano noted that the Judon trade cost them a 2025 third-round pick, complicating further transactions.

While there’s interest in enhancing the roster, the likelihood of the Falcons making a significant trade seems low, especially given their cautious approach to draft picks under GM Terry Fontenot. They may end up making no trades at all.
