The upcoming NFC South clash between the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers is notably different from last week’s expectations. Both teams, currently at 4-3, face significant personnel changes.

The Buccaneers suffered a 41-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, resulting in injuries to their top receivers, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Evans, who had scored his 100th career touchdown, is sidelined with a hamstring injury and is not expected back until after the Week 11 bye, missing at least three games. Godwin’s dislocated ankle will require surgery, likely ending his season. He was enjoying a strong year with 576 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

In response, Tampa Bay may lean on younger players Jalen McMillan and Trey Palmer to step up. Coach Todd Bowles expressed optimism about their potential and noted adjustments will be needed for the offense.

Meanwhile, Atlanta seeks to recover from a poor showing against the Seattle Seahawks, where they lost 34-14, marked by three fourth-quarter turnovers. The Falcons previously defeated Tampa Bay 36-30 in overtime earlier this month. Coach Raheem Morris emphasized the Buccaneers’ resilience despite their injuries.

Atlanta’s offense aims to improve after its recent struggles, particularly quarterback Kirk Cousins, who had a disappointing performance against Seattle with two interceptions and a fumble. This season, he has thrown for 1,830 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Injury updates for Atlanta include linebacker Troy Andersen, who may be nearing a return, while several other players participated limitedly. For Tampa Bay, running back Bucky Irving, tight end Payne Durham, and safety Tykee Smith did not practice on Wednesday.
