Dominic Solanke has shared his excitement about retaining his spot in the England squad for the upcoming Nations League matches against Greece and the Republic of Ireland. The Tottenham striker, who earned his second cap in the Three Lions’ 2-1 loss to Greece last month, is eager to add to his international appearances.
Earlier this week, Solanke expressed his hopes of staying in the squad under new England manager Thomas Tuchel, who will officially take over in January 2025. Solanke mentioned that, although Tuchel’s appointment is something to look forward to, he was focused on securing his place in the current setup, having worked hard to return to the national team.
Interim coach Lee Carsley confirmed that he made the selections for this squad without consulting Tuchel, who won’t influence team choices until next year. Solanke is seen as a good fit for Tuchel’s high-intensity playing style, and could potentially become the primary backup to Harry Kane in the near future.
The 26-year-old forward, who has been in solid form at Tottenham, remains determined to maintain his place in the national team, expressing that being part of the squad is a significant personal goal.
