Newcastle is reportedly on a list of teams vying for Victor Osimhen from Napoli.
Next summer, Newcastle United will have the opportunity to sign Victor Osimhen.
The Magpies are on a list of Premier League teams that Osimhen’s agents believe could be interested in signing him next summer. Prior to moving to Napoli for £64.3 million, Osimhen was scouted by Newcastle while he was at Lille.
With 65 Serie A goals to his name, the powerful striker scored a tonne of goals for Napoli and won the championship with Diego Maradona’s renowned old team. However, Osimhen’s transfer was listed due to a change in style and the arrival of Antonio Conte.
He appeared to be headed to either Chelsea or Al-Ahli, but when Napoli abruptly altered their asking price, the plans fell through. Although Napoli has a £113 million release clause protecting them, it’s thought they would accept a lower price if the transaction works out.
The Turkish Lig gave Osimhen a lifeline after most other transfer windows were closed, and he ended up on loan at Galatasaray after being left without a club in any of the top Euro leagues. Although they can’t afford to pay a permanent price, the Turkish top-flight leaders would much like him to stay.
Osimhen scored twice to defeat Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 in the Europa League this week, knowing that Premier League scouts would be keeping an eye on him. However, the 25-year-old will make another attempt to sign with a Premier League team this summer.
Osimhen’s salary, which he earned over £200,000 a week while playing for Napoli, may be the major issue for Newcastle. He is expected to leave Turkey following his loan agreement, even though that is thought to have decreased to about £110,000 per week at Galatasaray.
Jonathan David’s transfer is the other significant striker move that is expected to garner media attention in the next summer. The Canada international is available on a free transfer, according to a report by Chronicle Live on October 26. However, his agent would demand a large fee, estimated to be as much as £10 million.
A number of top-flight scouts in France saw David when he scored a goal against Juventus in the Champions League midweek, bringing his season total to 15. Even though his pay would be a little lower than Osimhen’s, his arrival would be equally exciting.
The fans on Tyneside would be rekindled by a well-known star after two somewhat quiet windows. Osimhen’s Napoli contract expires in 2026.
With the current PSR rulebook, Newcastle still needs to be creative when it comes to transfer fees and wages. But United’s management is aware that if the Magpies have any chance of qualifying for and remaining in the Champions League, they will need a hard-hitting, consistent goal scorer to support Alexander Isak.
Given the limitations imposed on Newcastle, Howe is aware of the challenges in acquiring the big names. but only mentioned the value of having large dreams last month.
“It’s important,” he stated. To keep everyone pleased and moving forward, not just the so-called big names, we must project a sense of accomplishment and growth as a football team.
“Everyone associated with the club, including myself, has a major job to try to maintain that momentum good and keep the ambitions incredibly big because I’ve seen it go very quickly the other way. It is vitally important that we keep doing that.
Given that January is a critical trading window for Howe and Mitchell, it is anticipated that Newcastle will hold further transfer meetings in the coming weeks.
