The Canterbury Bulldogs have announced the immediate signing of Enari Tuala on a two-year deal. Tuala, previously confirmed as one of the departing players from the Newcastle Knights at the end of 2024, has secured a spot with the Bulldogs after weeks of searching for a new club.
“Enari’s reliability and skill will be an asset to our team,” said Phil Gould, the Bulldogs’ director of football, in a club statement. Tuala’s versatility in playing both on the wing and in the centres is expected to strengthen the Bulldogs’ lineup.
The addition of Tuala positions him as a contender for the wing spot left open by Josh Addo-Carr, who was dismissed following an off-field incident. With Jeral Skelton also leaving in the off-season, Tuala will compete alongside Blake Wilson, with Marcelo Montoya, who joined from the Warriors, seen as the leading candidate for the role.
The Bulldogs’ outside back options now include captain Stephen Crichton, Jacob Kiraz, and Bronson Xerri. The fullback position may still be contested between Connor Tracey and Blake Taaffe, with the possibility of Kiraz or Crichton moving to that role, potentially opening a spot for Tuala to step in.
With 42 tries in 105 NRL appearances and a history of representing the Prime Minister’s XIII in 2018, Tuala’s experience will be valuable as he joins the blue and white for the 2025 and 2026 NRL seasons.
