After Alan Myers provided an update on the club’s takeover, Everton supporters will be hoping for an early Christmas present.
In response to a query on when Dan Friedkin’s takeover at Goodison would be finalised, Myers wrote on X on November 20 that he had been informed that a mid-December date was anticipated.
In September, Friedkin reached an agreement to purchase Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1% share in the team; however, his takeover has not yet been approved, and disagreements with the previous front-runners, 777 Partners, have not yet been resolved [Josimar, 18 November].
The excitement as the Toffees get ready to start a new chapter in 2025 is heightened by Myers’ update, which suggests that the takeover is still on track to be completed by the end of next month.
Dan Friedkin era needs to hit the ground running at Everton
Friedkin will ultimately take over at Goodison in mid-December, which doesn’t allow the American much time to be ready for the potentially pivotal January transfer window, when a significant influence is anticipated.
The Blues will undoubtedly need additions in some places to bolster their cause if their season-long record of two wins, four draws, and five losses holds true into the new year.
The first several months are vital, even if the summer of 2025 is expected to be one of the most transitional in the club’s history due to Sean Dyche’s contract expiring and their move to Bramley-Moore Dock.
Dyche won’t turn down additional help in January if it is provided, but it’s unclear how much Friedkin will be prepared to spend considering the Blues’ still shaky financial status.
