Jason Ryles revealed who might be Parramatta’s next fullback and captain in 2025 and said that he had no regrets about signing Josh Addo-Carr following his dismissal from the Bulldogs. After the Eels finished in 15th place in 2024, new coach Ryles has begun rebuilding the team. Although he signed talented outside backs Zac Lomax and Addo-Carr, the former Melbourne and Roosters assistant has allowed Clint Gutherson and Regan Campbell-Gillard to depart. Having worked with Addo-Carr at the Storm in the past, Ryles witnessed firsthand how deadly he can be on the flank.
There was a chance to talk to him. “I probably wouldn’t be talking about him right now if I hadn’t known him and had the relationship that I do with him,” Ryles remarked. “I know him pretty well and know what he can accomplish for a football team because I’ve had that experience and spent a lot of time with him.
He’s made a mistake and paid a price for it, but now it’s all about what we can do going forward. I’ve been really clear with Josh. There are no guarantees that he’ll be playing in the first 13 in our team. He’s got a lot of work to do.”
