Although Josh Addo-Carr has not been guaranteed a berth in the Eels’ starting lineup for the first round, he maintains that he is “feeling the love” at his new team.

Addo-Carr officially started life at Parramatta earlier this month after receiving a lifeline from new Eels coach Jason Ryles following his dismissal by the Bulldogs due to the drug controversy.

“Feeling really good, really transitioned into the team really well, good bunch of boys, good coaching staff, I’ve definitely felt the love over the last couple of weeks and I’m really enjoying it,” he stated.

Addo-Carr thinks that Ryles’ choice to not offer anyone a starting position has only inspired the training group.

“We’ve got a bunch of amazing players here and it’s just going to make everyone hungry, so definitely got to fight for my position and that’s what I plan to do,” he stated.

“It’s only going to make the team and everyone else better.”

Addo-Carr stated that he still feels he has a senior role in the club and seeks to coach younger players in spite of his off-field problems.

This year, we have a youthful side, and I want to support these youngsters in realizing their goals. This year, hopefully, we’ll be able to accomplish something unique.

The couple’s romance, which they developed while both were in the Melbourne Storm, is renewed as they relocate across Sydney.

Earlier this month, Ryles stated that a major consideration in pursuing his signature was his relationship.

I probably wouldn’t be discussing him right now if I hadn’t known him and had the relationship I do with him,” Ryles remarked.

But I know him very well and know what he can do for our football team because I’ve had that experience with him and spent a lot of time with him.

“He committed a mistake and has had to pay the consequences. However, the focus today is all on what we can accomplish moving ahead.

Coincidentally, the Eels’ first-round matchup is scheduled for March 9 in Melbourne versus the Storm.
