Everton supporters should feel encouraged by Simon Jordan’s admission that he has heard something about The Friedkin Group. After years of suffering under Farhad Moshiri, the Friedkin Group was revealed as Everton’s new owners on Thursday morning.

In response to the takeover announcement, Everton supporters expressed optimism that Merseyside would give a new start. But this is just the beginning of what must be done to pull Everton out of the relegation struggle and back to their rightful place. Even though Sean Dyche’s team is now at the bottom of the table, there is already enough to cheer Everton supporters about their new owners.

The Friedkin Group have already impressed at Everton

It was the Friedkins who won the battle for Everton, but they were not the only interested party over the last year and a half. John Textor came incredibly close to buying Everton earlier this year but was ultimately left with egg on his face after his public interviews. Speaking on TalkSPORT on Thursday, Simon Jordan has shared what George Downing admitted was so impressive about the Friedkins during their talks with the club.

What these guys are is they are very well-heeled. The Friedkin family are very, very significantly wealthy from the ownership of Chrysler dealerships all around America,” he said.

My friend George Downing was quite impressed with the debt structuring they were doing while he was in there. “The most significant thing for Everton is that he delivered the principles of a new stadium, and the funding was frequently done by others.” Moshiri’s legacy will be a difficult time. Everton was impressed by the Friedkin Group’s takeover talks strategy, which was far more taciturn than those of their rivals.

And that clearly worked in their favour as they had very few issues in their process of getting the keys to the club.

Simon Jordan reacted to The Friedkin Group’s Everton statement

Dan Friedkin shared his excitement to Everton fans in a public statement made shortly after the takeover was confirmed. However, Jordan has admitted there is not a great deal which can be taken from the statement which was probably very similar when they took over at AS Roma. I would imagine, if one were to look back over the acquisition of Roma, it might be a cut and paste [statement[ from what was said there,” said Jordan.

Because these are the main things that supporters of a team and football clubs will like to hear. Therefore, I don’t believe that contains anything especially enlightening. After their recent loss to Como, the Friedkins were incensed against Roma last weekend, and they could need some time to adjust to that with the Toffees.
