Jerez, Spain – The MotoGP paddock was left in shock after Jorge Martin was involved in a terrifying accident during a practice session at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto.
The Pramac Racing rider was thrown off his Ducati Desmosedici at high speed, sliding across the asphalt before coming to a stop near the trackside barrier.
According to eyewitnesses, Martin was conscious and able to move his limbs after the crash, but was clearly shaken and in significant pain.
“I saw him tumbling through the air, and my heart sank,” said fellow rider Fabio Quartararo. “Jorge is a tough guy, but that was a huge crash. We’re all thinking of him and hoping he’s okay.”
Martin was quickly attended to by the trackside medical team and was subsequently transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
Initial reports suggest that Martin may have suffered a broken leg, although the full extent of his injuries is not yet known.
The incident has cast a shadow over the MotoGP paddock, with riders and teams alike sending their best wishes to Martin for a speedy recovery.
“The safety of our riders is always our top priority,” said MotoGP promoter Carmelo Ezpeleta. “We’re deeply concerned about Jorge’s condition and will do everything in our power to support him during this difficult time.”
