Journalist Alan Nixon claims that Graham Potter, the former manager of Brighton and Chelsea, has become a serious contender to succeed Sean Dyche at Everton.
Dyche has yet to win over Everton supporters in his second full season as manager of the Merseyside team, and the Toffees face relegation.
Dyche is in danger after Everton’s eighth loss of the season, which came over the weekend against Bournemouth.
On Merseyside, an instant change is being contemplated, with the name Potter even being proposed as a substitute.
The 49-year-old is actually now a legitimate contender and is being given preference because he is a free agent.
Everton may hire Potter without having to pay a compensation fee because of their financial limitations.
However, some supporters could question whether the present team is equipped to handle Potter’s passing style of game.
Everton’s new owners believe it could be viewed as a step backwards, although the name of former manager David Moyes has also surfaced.
