Fabrizio Romano claims that Everton has lost out on Aston Villa’s Jaden Philogene.

On Wednesday evening, January 8, Romano wrote on his personal X account that Philogene, 22, will be going to Ipswich Town on Thursday morning, January 9, for a medical examination.
The Toffees reportedly made a “important bid” to recruit the former attacker for Hull City. The player is currently traveling to Suffolk to sign with the Tractor Boys after Ipswich and Aston Villa apparently agreed on a cost of £21 million, plus add-ons.

Everton miss out on Jaden Philogene

When Everton competes with other teams in the transfer market, they will always have difficulties.

Given that they had only promoted to the Premier League the previous season and the Toffees have been struggling to balance the budget for years, Ipswich is unlikely to be in any way breaking PSR regulations.

Sean Dyche’s uncertainty may also be a factor since why would a team sign a player if they have no idea who their manager will be in a few days?

Now that Ipswich has Philogene scheduled for a physical, he will be the newest member of Kieran McKenna’s team, barring any last-minute collapse in agreements or a failure of his checks.

According to Romano, McKenna had a key role in persuading Philogene to move to Portman Road, demonstrating once more how crucial a club’s managerial situation is to finalizing signings.
