In an exclusive interview, former Watford captain Troy Deeney has made a stunning confession that has sent shockwaves through the football world. The 35-year-old striker, who spent the majority of his career at Vicarage Road, admitted that he regrets not moving to one of the top Premier League clubs that came calling during his prime years.

“I regret staying at Watford when bigger clubs were showing interest. It’s tough to admit, but I feel like I wasted a huge part of my career,” Deeney said, his voice filled with reflection and honesty. “I had opportunities to play at the highest level with top teams, but I stayed loyal to Watford, thinking I could build something special. Looking back now, I wish I had made a different choice.”

Deeney’s tenure at Watford saw him rise from a promising forward to club legend, with 152 goals in over 400 appearances. However, despite his success and leadership, he admits he might have missed out on greater opportunities.

“I had some incredible years with Watford, and I’ll always be proud of my time there,” Deeney continued. “But as a player, you always wonder how things could have gone if you had taken a different path. I should have pushed for a move when the chance was there.”

As Deeney moves on from his playing career, he’s looking forward to mentoring young players and sharing the hard lessons he’s learned throughout his journey. “It’s about making the right choices at the right time, something I wish I had figured out earlier in my career.”

The confession has sparked mixed reactions from fans, some praising his honesty, while others reflect on his legendary contributions to Watford. Regardless, Deeney’s legacy remains etched in the hearts of many, even if it comes with a tinge of regret.
