The Canterbury Bulldogs have confirmed the departure of a young forward as they continue to restructure their roster for the upcoming 2025 NRL season.
On X (previously known as Twitter), Canterbury Bulldogs GM of Football Phil Gould stated that teenage front-rower Isaac Matalavea-Booth had left the club.
Unlike Nelson Asofa-Solomona, he joined the Bulldogs from the Gold Coast Titans, where he was a development player and played for their affiliate team, the Burleigh Bears, in the Hastings Deering Colts league.
He attended the renowned Keebra Park and spent the majority of his time at Belmore in the Ron Massey Cup, but was unable to break into the first-grade squad.
Matalavea-Booth’s departure from the Bulldogs follows the announced departures of Chris Patolo, Harrison Edwards, Hayze Perham, Jeral Skelton, Joash Papalii, Jordan Samrani, Josh Addo-Carr, Kitione Kautoga, Poasa Faamausili, and Zane Tetevano to either rival teams or retirement.
Karl Oloapu is also expected to return to Queensland with The Dolphins, while young brothers Fanafou and Itula Seve have joined the Sydney Roosters.
