Everton will compete with Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt to sign 24-year-old American forward Timothy Weah from Serie A club Juventus.
According to Italian newspaper Calciomercato, Everton are interested in Timothy Weah. The Toffees have been looking for a wide attacker ahead of the winter transfer window. So the Juventus forward has surfaced as a target, with Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt both interested in signing the 24-year-old from the Serie A club.
Timothy Weah and his career trajectory
Timothy Weah has made significant development after moving to Juventus from LOSC Lille in July 2023. The youngster, a native of New York, is the son of the renowned George Weah and represents the United States in international football. The American attacker began his youth career in his home city but graduated from the youth division at Paris Saint-Germain.
However, the 24-year-old found a stable footing during his spell with Lille before arriving in Italy 18 months ago. Since then, Weah has come leaps and bounds, even though he has not been an undisputed first-choice starter for Juventus. The player has chipped in with four goals and five assists in only 952 minutes of game time across 21 appearances in all competitions.
Meanwhile, Weah’s success has piqued the interest of numerous well-known clubs in Europe. Everton and other Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in signing the USMNT international. However, Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen are also vying for his signing.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Everton’s interest in Timothy Weah is understandable. The Toffees have been looking for a wide attacker ahead of the winter transfer window. Iliman Ndiaye has been reliable since joining Everton from Marseille last summer, while Jack Harrison has been inconsistent this season.
So, Everton should invest in a top-notch wide attacker, with several candidates, including Ernest Nuamah, emerging as targets. However, Weah is also an option worth considering, as he can be a top-class addition to the right-wing berth. In addition, the American attacker can play as a striker, adding to his appeal.
While Everton will face a three-way competition for Weah’s signature, acquiring his services may prove difficult. So it would be intriguing to see if the teams can persuade Juventus to part ways with the 24-year-old USMNT player during the winter transfer period.
