The final bricks for the emotional Everton Way at the club’s new stadium have now been sold.
Every stone on the emotive walkway that will honour Blues past and present at Everton’s new stadium has been sold. That means an amazing 36,000 personalized bricks will line the south stand of Everton’s beautiful stadium, forming Everton Way.
The final bricks were sold shortly after work began on the emotional feature, with the first dedications put last month.
The stones bear inscriptions of love and friendship, commemorating births, weddings, passionate support for the Blues, and loved ones who will now be a part of the club’s relocation to the Merseybanks.
Everton Way was popular from the start. The demand caused the first tranche of bricks to sell out rapidly, and the sheer volume of requests from those who missed out resulted in further sales windows and a wider path.
Those that purchased stones will learn where they have been placed inside the feature once the project is finished in the summer.
Kevin O’Brien, director of Intaglio Creative Limited, the business directing the project, said when the first stones were put in January: “When you stand at the bottom of Everton Way and gaze up towards the river, this is on a new scale.
“I’ve been involved in a lot of these up and down the country over the past 10 or so years, but here we are talking about 1,400 square metres and 36,000 individual stones, so it is without doubt the biggest personalisation project in the UK.”
