Shedeur Sanders spent a large portion of the 2024 season keeping an eye on the Las Vegas Raiders. The team had a strong chance of selecting the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and many people thought they would select the quarterback from Colorado. Even his father, Deion Sanders, advised former head coach Antonio Pierce to draft his sons, and Sanders has been flirting with the Raiders since last season. But Las Vegas slid to No. 6 in the selection order after winning two of their past three games.
It will be more challenging to add the quarterback now that other clubs that are in need of a quarterback have selected before the Raiders. He still flirts with the Raiders in spite of this. Sanders was asked by CBS Sports to post an emoticon response to the logos of teams he could play for. He posted an eyes emoji for each of the other teams, but he posted a thinking emoji for the Raiders. “I’m trying to figure right here, but they gotta trade up,” Sanders stated in reaction to the Raiders’ logo. “… So I know it could happen so that’s why I put this.”
Considering how much he has already dabbled in the idea of visiting Las Vegas, this response attracted a lot of attention. Despite having to back off of his overt flirting with the Raiders, it appears that he is still thinking about the team. It’s hard to predict what general manager John Spytek and head coach Pete Carroll will do, but it’s clear that the Raiders need a quarterback, and Sanders may be the best player available.
