Wakefield Trinity kicked off their Betfred Super League campaign in style with a hard-fought 14-12 victory over Leeds Rhinos at Headingley. A clinical 10-minute burst in the second quarter proved decisive, as Trinity demonstrated resilience in defense to hold off a late Rhinos surge.

Despite a strong pre-season, Leeds struggled to break down a disciplined Wakefield side, who capitalized on their opportunities and defended their lead with determination. Trinity’s defensive effort was the standout feature, restricting Leeds to a try at the end of each half while maintaining their composition under pressure.

Rhinos coach Brad Arthur admitted the defeat was disappointing but credited Wakefield for their tactical execution. “We lacked composure and tried too hard as individuals instead of working together. Wakefield handled the occasion better than we did,” Arthur reflected.

The victory sees Wakefield Trinity gain early momentum, setting up an intriguing Challenge Cup clash against Huddersfield Giants in the next round. With a well-organized defense and a sharp attacking spell proving decisive, Trinity have sent a strong message that they are ready to make an impact this season.
