The NBA formally released its ruling about Stephen Curry and Sabrina Ionescu’s three-point shootout this week. Earlier in the offseason, there were reports that Caitlin Clark and another NBA player might join Curry and Ionescu for a three-point shootout during All-Star weekend. Clark, however, denied the reports and stated unequivocally that she had no intention of taking part.
Fans nationwide who were hoping to watch the shootout were upset when the NBA confirmed the matchup between Curry and Ionescu was also off just days before All-Star weekend began. Rob Parker, the anchor of Fox Sports, accused Clark of spoiling the NBA All-Star weekend after the NBA’s ruling. “On his radio show, he stated that Caitlin Clark was the only person responsible for ruining NBA All-Star Weekend.
“NBA All-Star Weekend has been wrecked by Caitlin Clark. They asked her to join Steph in the shooting competition. Correct? Additionally, they planned to make this lovely thing happen so that people would have something to watch. Isn’t she the epitome of television ratings? People are observing her in everything she does. That would have been the sole justification for attending any of this weekend’s events. They were given a Slam Dunk Contest without a name. Four of their All-Star teams feature players who aren’t even All-Stars. The international players, the elderly veterans, the younger people, and those they picked up off the street.”
It is undoubtedly a decision to blame Clark for the lack of excitement around the All-Star weekend rather than NBA commissioner Adam Silver or even the players.
