We discussed German reports earlier this week that Timo Werner of Tottenham Hotspur could see himself playing in the Major League Soccer. Additionally, it was stated that he might be able to restart his career with the New York Red Bulls.

In January 2024, Werner moved from RB Leipzig to Spurs on loan, and his contract was extended through the end of current season. Tottenham has the option to pay €10 million to make his loan transfer permanent.

According to Bild, the 28-year-old must return to Leipzig since the Premier League team will not execute the purchase option.

The Germany international has no future at the Bundesliga team, despite having a contract that expires in 2026. The American club might be an option for him, and he needs to find a solution by the summer window.

In 2024, Emil Forsberg, Werner’s former Leipzig teammate, joined the New York Red Bulls. The former Chelsea player sees himself moving to the United States.

Forsberg allegedly “lures” the Tottenham player to join him at the American club, according to the article. The 33-year-old Swede wants to see him again, but he maintains that Werner has the last say.

“I would definitely love to bring Timo along. He is an excellent player. Our years in Leipzig were wonderful. But regrettably, I am unable to decide that,” he informed Bild.
