Ryan Papenhuyzen Silences Doubters with Electrifying Performance
Melbourne Storm fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen has hit back at critics who questioned his speed after a series of injuries. Papenhuyzen’s stunning performance in the Storm’s 56-18 win over the Eels, which included two tries and three line-breaks, proved he has regained his electric speed.
Papenhuyzen credited his hard work and the guidance of the Storm’s technical coaches for his improved performance. He also emphasized the importance of enjoying his football, saying that “joy” was a key factor in the Storm’s dominant display.
Storm coach Craig Bellamy praised Papenhuyzen’s performance, saying it was the best he had looked since returning from injury. The Storm’s victory marked their 23rd consecutive win in Round 1, and they will look to build on this momentum when they face Penrith in a grand final rematch on March 20.
Papenhuyzen acknowledged that his performance was not perfect, citing a missed opportunity to pass to Cameron Munster, but he was pleased with the team’s overall performance and is looking forward to their next challenge.
