Hull FC forward Jed Cartwright is set to undergo scans after suffering a hamstring injury during the team’s 16-12 win over Wakefield Trinity on Friday night. Cartwright, who had only recently returned from a hamstring issue, felt a pop in his hamstring at the end of the first half and immediately signaled to the medical staff.

The injury is a significant blow to Hull FC, who are already dealing with a number of injuries. Cade Cust, who started the game at stand-off, was forced off with a hip injury early in the match, while Liam Watts took a knock to the jaw but was able to continue playing.

Hull FC head coach John Cartwright, who is also Jed’s father, confirmed that the forward will undergo scans to determine the severity of the injury. “Jed, unfortunately, has tweaked a hammy again,” he said. “When they made a break at half-time, he chased the hooker, and he felt something pop. We’ll just have to wait and see what the scan says.”

Cartwright also provided an update on Cust’s injury, saying that the stand-off has a hip pointer, which is a painful but not long-term injury. “Cade has got a hip pointer, which is very painful but not long-term,” he said. “It might not be anything—it’s just dealing with the pain.”

Despite the injuries, Hull FC were able to secure a gritty win over Wakefield Trinity, with Aidan Sezer kicking a late penalty to seal the victory. The win extends Hull FC’s unbeaten run to four games, and Cartwright was proud of his team’s effort. “I thought the boys were great,” he said. “We had to dig deep and find a way to win.”

The win was also notable for the performance of veteran prop Liam Watts, who made his second debut for the club and his 153rd appearance. Cartwright praised Watts’ performance, saying that he made a difference when he came on. “He was great,” Cartwright said. “He made a difference when he went on. He’s a very popular member of the team already.”
