SWINDON TOWN FAN PUNDIT CALLS FOR SUMMER TRANSFER STRATEGY TO DEVELOP HIDDEN GEMS AND MAINTAIN SQUAD CONSISTENCY

With Swindon Town sitting 11 points behind the top seven in League Two, a late play-off push seems unlikely. However, fan pundit Ciaran Daniel remains hopeful for the 2025/26 season, citing the team’s improvement under Ian Holloway’s management.

Since Holloway took over in October, Swindon Town has held the tenth-best record in League Two. Ciaran believes that retaining Holloway and the current squad, with a few quality additions, could see the team challenging for automatic promotion.

Ciaran suggests that Swindon Town should adopt a transfer strategy similar to the one that brought Charlie Austin to the club from non-league. He advocates for finding hidden gems in non-league who can be developed and become long-term assets for the club.

“I want us to pluck a potential star from non-league who we can develop and fall in love with,” Ciaran said. “I’d like us to take a leap and find someone from the National League, National League South, or even below.”

Ciaran also emphasizes the importance of maintaining squad consistency, citing the instability that has plagued the club since the owner, Clen Morfuni, took over. He believes that keeping the majority of the squad together, with only a few fringe players leaving, will be crucial in determining the team’s success next season.

“We don’t need wholesale changes,” Ciaran said. “Maybe four or five fringe players out of the door. The group has shown that they would run through brick walls for Holloway, and if too many key players left, that would disrupt us yet again.”

Overall, Ciaran is optimistic about Swindon Town’s prospects for the 2025/26 season, provided the club adopts a strategic approach to transfers and maintains squad consistency.
