*Everton Linked with Surprising Move for Manchester United’s Harry Maguire*
Everton FC is reportedly considering a shocking transfer move for Manchester United’s center-back Harry Maguire. The Toffees are expected to lose Jarrad Branthwaite, valued at £80 million, to Manchester United or other interested clubs. To replace Branthwaite, Everton might use the funds generated from his sale to sign Maguire.
Maguire, 32, has impressed Manchester United’s manager Ruben Amorim since his arrival. However, this does not guarantee his stay at Old Trafford, especially with the club’s interest in Branthwaite. Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes that Maguire would be an ideal replacement for Branthwaite at Everton.
“Harry Maguire would fit into the mold of what David Moyes is trying to do at Everton,” Robinson told Football Insider. “If they let Jarrad Branthwaite go, they may have the opportunity to strengthen their squad in other areas. If there’s a situation where they could let him go and bring in a player like Harry Maguire, that might be an option for them.”
Maguire’s contract with Manchester United expires in June 2026. The club may choose to sell him this summer to avoid losing him for free in the future. In January, Maguire signed a one-year contract extension after impressing Amorim in his first few months at the club.
Everton is also reportedly interested in signing Sunderland left-back Dennis Cirkin. The 22-year-old has been impressive in the Championship, scoring three goals and providing two assists in 34 appearances. He is expected to become a top-quality Premier League full-back in the coming years.
The Toffees have been strong in defense this season under both David Moyes and his predecessor Sean Dyche. However, the club is looking to add a few names to their defensive lineup this summer. With the potential signings of Maguire and Cirkin, Everton is poised to strengthen its defense and make a push for a top spot in the Premier League.
