Hull FC has provided further insight into the injury sustained by back-row forward Jed Cartwright, revealing that he has suffered a significant hamstring tear. This injury is expected to sideline him for approximately two months, though no surgical intervention will be required.

Head coach John Cartwright initially mentioned last Thursday that his son and key player would be unavailable for an extended period. Following a detailed medical assessment and scans, the full extent of the injury has now been confirmed. The incident occurred during a match against Wakefield, where Cartwright experienced a ‘pop’ in his hamstring while chasing back to cover a break by Trinity. He was forced off the field at halftime and did not return for the remainder of the game.

Coach Cartwright expressed his disappointment regarding the injury but remains optimistic about his son’s recovery. “It’s a significant tear, and he’s going to be out for quite some time,” he explained. “Fortunately, he won’t require surgery, but the rehabilitation process will take a considerable period. I don’t like to put specific timeframes on recoveries, but we’re looking at around two months. He’ll be working hard to make his return as soon as possible.”

Jed Cartwright has been a standout performer for Hull FC this season, delivering impressive displays, particularly in the game against Leigh, where he scored a try and showcased his strength in offloading and defensive capabilities. His absence will be a notable loss for the team, but the club is committed to ensuring his full recovery before his return to the field. “He brings aggression, power, and creativity in attack and defence. We will certainly miss his presence, but our focus is now on getting him back to full fitness,” added the coach.

With Cartwright sidelined, Hull FC has turned to Brad Fash to step into the back-row position. Meanwhile, the club has received positive updates on several other players. Yusuf Aydin has been declared fit for selection and is expected to feature in the upcoming derby clash against Hull KR. Additionally, Zak Hardaker is also in contention for a return to action. Jack Charles and Callum Kemp have both recovered from their respective injuries, while Amir Bourouh and Sam Eseh are available for selection despite picking up minor knocks during last week’s match against Castleford.

However, Hull FC still faces several injury concerns, with Harvey Barron (hamstring), Ligi Sao (knee), Cade Cust (head injury assessment), Oliver Holmes (knee), Denive Balmforth (hamstring), Ryan Westerman (ankle), and Roman Dawson (ACL) all ruled out. Liam Watts, who is cup-tied, is also dealing with a calf injury.

Despite these challenges, Hull FC remains focused on their upcoming fixtures and is determined to maintain strong performances in Cartwright’s absence.
