Andre Onana Targeted by Saudi Clubs But Manchester United Star Determined to Stay and Fight

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is attracting serious interest from Saudi Arabia, with several clubs ready to offer the Cameroon international a fresh start and a significant financial upgrade. However, despite the tempting proposals, Onana has no intention of giving up on his Manchester United journey just yet.

According to sources, more than one Saudi Pro League side has made inquiries about Onana’s availability ahead of the summer transfer window. After a challenging debut season at Old Trafford, the 28-year-old’s future has become a topic of hot debate among fans and pundits alike. But while his name is being linked to a potential big-money move to the Middle East, the former Inter Milan and Ajax shot-stopper remains committed to proving himself in the Premier League.

Onana has faced intense scrutiny since joining United in a £47 million deal last summer, brought in as a long-term replacement for David De Gea. His distribution and shot-stopping were meant to redefine United’s play from the back, but a string of high-profile errors in key matches led to doubts over his reliability between the posts.

Despite the criticism, Onana has shown glimpses of brilliance, pulling off crucial saves in tough fixtures and demonstrating his trademark confidence with the ball at his feet. More importantly, sources close to the player reveal he is not looking for a way out. He believes he can turn things around at United and live up to the expectations placed upon him when he first arrived.

The offers from Saudi Arabia, believed to include wage packages that could double his current salary, are certainly enticing. Clubs like Al-Ahli and Al-Nassr are reportedly among the interested parties, eager to bolster their squads with high-profile European talent. Yet, for Onana, the motivation remains sporting, not financial.

A United insider said: “Andre knows he’s had ups and downs, but he’s not a quitter. He’s fully focused on United and wants to prove he’s the right man for the job.”

With Rúben Amorim now at the helm as United’s new head coach, the summer will be crucial in shaping the club’s direction. Amorim is known for trusting players with strong character and a high work ethic something Onana is keen to demonstrate under his leadership.

In an era when many players are lured away by lucrative deals abroad, Onana’s stance is refreshingly defiant. For now, the message from the Cameroonian is loud and clear  he’s staying to fight.
