raiders: Raiders sack coach Josh McDaniels and General Manager: What's next for the NFL team? - The Economic Times

Las Vegas Raiders, one of the stalwart American football teams in the National Football League (NFL) fired their head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler on Tuesday night.

This move by the football team comes after the Raiders lost to NFL counterpart Detroit Lions 26-14 during “Monday Night Football.”

According to reports, Raiders owner, Mark Davis said in a statement that he had thought a lot about what his team needed to do “to move forward,” and after that he had made a decision to “part ways” with McDaniels and Ziegler. Davis also thanked both the coach and the general manager for their “hard work” and wished both their families “nothing but the best.”

However, as per reports, on being asked as to why both of them were sacked, Davis provided a “no comment” as an answer.
McDaniels and Ziegler were brought into the Raiders in January 2022 and they inherited a squad who made a sensational playoff run in the 2021 season. During the time they were hired, Davis reportedly said that both of them were selected in order to take the team the “next step.”

However, things didn’t work out as per what was required as the Raiders achieved a miserable 9-16 that too without a playoff appearance. Additionally, McDaniels ended his term with the third-worst record for any coach who coached at least 25 matches.
