Although Anthony Gordon would be happy to join Liverpool, journalist Ben Jacobs has exclusively told GIVEMESPORT that the Reds are not now ready to pay Newcastle United’s asking price.

Liverpool is said to value Gordon, but Arne Slot’s team may decide to give up on signing the 23-year-old this summer given Newcastle’s asking price of almost £100 million.

In order to avoid financial difficulties, Newcastle managed to accumulate almost £60 million in transfer fees prior to the June 30 deadline, therefore the Magpies are not in a haste to sell their star winger.

After “frantic attempts” to sell players before the end of the fiscal year, Newcastle was able to cross the finish line thanks to the exits of young players Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson.

The group even brought up the names of Gordon and Alexander Isak in discussions with other teams, sparking Liverpool’s recent interest in the England international.

The two dominant teams in the Premier League are said to have discussed Gordon last month. According to Jacobs, the Reds had a chance to get the talented winger at that time and bring him to Anfield.
