Cody Bellinger put on a standout performance, driving in four runs on a triple and two singles as the Chicago Cubs powered past the Philadelphia Phillies, winning 10-4 on

Tuesday night. Bellinger’s sixth-inning, bases-clearing triple gave the Cubs a decisive edge, capping off a night where Philadelphia’s pitchers struggled under mounting pressure.

Bryce Harper homered in the first inning, marking his 30th of the season and briefly giving the Phillies a lead. However, the Cubs quickly took control in the second inning,

taking advantage of a shaky Phillies bullpen. Tanner Banks and Taijuan Walker, who joined the game with bases loaded, were met with boos from Phillies fans after a series of walks and hits, including Seiya Suzuki’s two-run single.

Despite a late two-run homer from Kyle Schwarber, his 38th of the season, Philadelphia couldn’t recover. Cubs starter Justin Steele pitched four solid innings,

and Drew Smyly held the Phillies scoreless in relief. Dansby Swanson and Pete Crow-Armstrong also contributed with multiple hits, further solidifying the Cubs’ lead.

Philadelphia, having clinched the NL East title on Monday, now focuses on securing home-field advantage as the postseason approaches. The series concludes Wednesday night with Javier Assad starting for the Cubs against Cristopher Sánchez of the Phillies.
