Dujon Sterling appeared “disinterested” during Rangers’ recent match, sparking speculation about potential tension between him and manager Philippe Clement, according to former player Alan Hutton. Sterling, who has mostly been a secondary figure this season, came off the bench as Rangers secured a 2-1 win over Motherwell in the Scottish League Cup.

Hutton, speaking on The Scottish Football Social Club, noted Sterling’s seemingly unengaged demeanor as the teams entered the pitch, during warm-up, and at halftime, leading Hutton to question if something might have occurred between Sterling and Clement. Despite his apparent indifference, Sterling impressed once he was substituted in, but Hutton suggested there could be an underlying issue.

Sterling’s limited starting opportunities have fueled speculation, with some noting his versatile yet undefined role at Ibrox as a possible factor. However, it remains uncertain if any real rift exists. Fans hope Sterling will see more consistent playtime in the coming months to prove his value on the team.
