According to John Textor, he was within 24 hours away from purchasing Everton before Dan Friedkin returned.
According to John Textor, he was about 24 hours away from purchasing Everton when Dan Friedkin returned to overtake him. A deal for the Friedkin Group to buy Farhad Moshiri’s whole 94.1% share in Everton was announced on September 23 after negotiations had previously ended back in July. The Friedkin Group and Blue Heaven Holdings confirmed in a joint statement that they had agreed on the terms of selling Blue Heaven Holdings’ majority ownership in Everton Football Club. The Premier League, the Football Association, and the Financial Conduct Authority are among the regulatory bodies that must approve the deal.
According to a Wednesday report, TFG sources told the ECHO that although their customer has been cautious throughout the process, everything is proceeding according to plan at this time, with the goal of completion in mid-December still in place.
After allegedly entering into a period of exclusivity with Moshiri in August, Textor was in the box seat to acquire Everton until the Friedkins returned.
During that time, Textor, who as well as having a 45% stake in Crystal Palace, also owns RWD Molenbeek in Belgium and Botafogo in Brazil, had compared the prospect of buying the Blues to being in the White House.
He told Sky Sports: “Nobody wakes up and thinks, ‘I get to buy Everton’. But if you decide football is what you want in your life, and then somebody comes along and asks you if you want to become the owner of Everton, it’s like someone asking you if you want to be President of the United States. Of course you do.”
However, the Missouri-born mogul, nicknamed ‘Hollywood’s Virtual Reality guru,’ also received a rap on the knuckles from the current top brass at Goodison Park for speaking publicly about what manager Sean dyche appetite for working with South American players might be like
But the 59-year-old continues to be candid about his intentions and has now spoken out about how close he believed he was to striking a deal for Everton.
cite Textor as telling Ole witness sport“In England, we thought we were very close to Everton. I think I’ll probably say it for the first time publicly now.
A simple handshake can sometimes accomplish a lot. Sometimes a simple handshake is insufficient. And since we were overconfident in the result, we lost that particular situation. “I make mistakes, so there’s probably a reason why the Everton incident didn’t occur. I believe that everything happens for a purpose. Additionally, I believe that our circumstances in the Premier League will improve in the end. And something else will happen because of the reason that didn’t happen.
“We didn’t realise that we were 24 hours away, our documents were ready, and we were ready to send the money and they were still going through a bidding process with another buyer.
