PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Philadelphia Phillies have made a major splash in the offseason, signing star shortstop Trea Turner to a record-breaking 11-year, $360 million contract extension.

The deal, which is the largest in Phillies history, ensures that Turner will remain in Philadelphia through the 2034 season. The contract includes a full no-trade clause and a $20 million signing bonus.

Turner, 29, has been one of the top shortstops in the National League since being acquired by the Phillies in a trade with the Washington Nationals last season. He hit .312 with 24 home runs and 71 RBIs in 2023, earning his first All-Star selection as a Phillie.

“We are thrilled to have Trea as a cornerstone of our franchise for years to come,” said Phillies General Manager Sam Fuld. “His exceptional talent, work ethic, and leadership make him an ideal fit for our organization.”

The signing is a major coup for the Phillies, who have been aggressive in their pursuit of top free agents in recent years. The deal is expected to have a significant impact on the team’s chances of competing for a World Series title in the near future.
